You dig up graves on your farm and zombies climb out of them. Plant the seeds you win from fights and more units grow out of the ground — crossbowmen, healers, a vampire, a drummer who speeds everyone around him up, a guy who throws a hook and drags enemies into your line. When you're done farming you walk your army out through the gate and pick a node on the map to attack. You place every unit yourself before the fight starts and then it plays out on its own, so a battle is decided by what you grew that week and where you put it. Anything that dies is gone for the rest of the run, so you go home and grow replacements for whoever didn't come back. A run is five weeks with a boss at the end of each week. There's also a sandbox mode in the main menu where you place both armies out of every unit in the game and watch them fight, which is the fastest way to see what everything does.
